When you're paying at a store and are asked:
"Do you have a loyalty card?"
Do you ever wonder what happens to those points when you say no?
Probably not.
The
thing is many people don't ever even give it a second thought. By
shopping at that store you're conforming to their points system. Points
system have become increasingly popular over the years and many stores
have got involved, Tesco's and Sainsbury's being the biggest and most
well known but plenty of other shops including Costa, Ikea, Harrods,
Debenhams and Superdrug are involved too.
What
if there was an option for these customers to donate their points for a
worthy cause? Instead these points are never used and are just sat on
by the stores.
Our
project is to make the public see what a good idea it would be to
donate the points. The stores have been approached and refuse to
cooperate but we're sure if this idea spread and lots of people caught
on to how brilliant it is then their voices would be heard.
We're
working in a group of ten to produce a time-based media product that
can be used to spread the idea and convince those who use it to pass the
message on. This will be based on a film theme and should humiliate the
stores who are holding back all of these points! This blog will be used
to document and record all of our work for the duration of this
project.
